Jennifer Logan was going through a tough season in life when she first decided to become a foster. Facing difficulties in trying to start a family as well as going through career changes Jennifer was talked by NAS founder Lori Elam into fostering a St. Bernard by the name of Leo.
“That dog changed my life, my marriage and reminded me how good it feels to give back,” says Logan, “We adopted Leo. He served as a nanny dog to many other fosters we cared for.”
Through the fostering process Jennifer was able to reconnect with her own life while also caring for an animal in need. A process that many fosters find to be meaningful and even therapeutic. Still a foster to this day Jennifer is now caring for Keeble, a dog who came into her care at only a year old after suffering abuse and homelessness in East Nashville.
“He needed stability, understanding, and lots of undoing of all his bad habis,” says Jennifer in regards to Keeble, “He is amazing now, has been worth all the work.”
The worthwhile feeling of nurturing a pet in need is a common thread in the world of fostering. Jennifer and other fosters enjoy the benefits of building a relationship with their animal friends, often finding that the process becomes a very important part of their life.
“Fostering is for anyone willing to devote that time,” says Jennifer, “The hardest part is letting go.”
And some fosters never do let go, as adoption is always an option for foster families. However some fosters find that while they to want to give back they only have limited time, this being why the foster process is designed to accommodate those who can only give a short period of their lives. No matter for how short or how long anyone can be a foster, there will always be animals who need it and coming from those who have experienced it, it is certainly a worthwhile experience.
Noah’s Ark Society is always looking for people interested in joining our community of fosters. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions at foster@noahsarksociety.org

Show your support for our favorite Nashville-based animal charities with our Furry Friends design. After minimal design and set-up costs, proceeds of this design go towards the Tiny but Mighty Fund and Noah’s Ark Society – both organizations help raise awareness, rescue animals in need and find them forever homes. We are super excited to be partnering with these great organizations!
You will be able to purchase the limited edition design until Aug 15th. But why wait? Show your support (and sport a new tee) all summer! Click here to peruse all available products in the BRIGHT Shop. And be sure to like the BRIGHT facebook page if you haven’t already – they will keep you posted on updates and promo codes there.”

We are so grateful to everyone who came out to see us at Paws on the Pavement. We had a great day, and a very successful fundraiser that will help get us out of the red. Our next goal is to raise some operating funds to pay for some surgeries needed by animals in our care.We do have a couple more events on the horizon, and want to welcome our volunteers to join us again for whichever form of fun they want to!Saturday, September 7th we will be attending the Nashville Food Truck Awards at Centennial Park. We would love to have volunteers come out to walk dogs and hand out information to those that would like it about Noah’s Ark Society and the animals in our care. This will be a fun day with food an entertainment in Centennial Park. We need transport volunteers to help get dogs in from foster homes that have not been able to attend many events, and would love a few friends to take photos for us during the day.
